Case study: Gala dinner as a hybrid event
We delivered a comprehensive technical solution for a gala dinner that was simultaneously streamed online as a live broadcast.
The event’s requirements were more complex than a typical hybrid event, as the online audience was provided with separate content during the breaks of the main program, broadcast from a studio built adjacent to the venue.
For the main hall, we provided sound reinforcement for the gala program and musical artists, an large LED screen with video and presentation playback, supplementary lighting for the venue and lighting control. Additionally, we supplied a wireless intercom system to coordinate operations taking place in the different areas.
We implemented the event's livestream as a nine-camera multicam production. Some camera angles in both the hall and studio were captured using remotely controlled robotic cameras, alongside operated cameras that were either tripod-mounted or mobile using wireless links.
We also utilized our Grass Valley K2 Dyno instant replay system to quickly edit and broadcast a musical performance that took place live before the stream officially began, replayed one hour later at the start of the stream.
Both the hall program and the stream's audio, with inputs from both locations, were routed into a shared audio system to enable smooth transitions.
The technical execution of the event required precise planning and careful implementation to ensure all details worked seamlessly. The complex setup was supported by technical solutions that enhanced the flow and visual appeal of the event. The result was a success and met all objectives.
